Volume Converters

One US gallon is exactly 3.785411784 liters, and a US cup is 236.588 mL — both internationally fixed values, not approximations. That precision matters when you're scaling a recipe, filling a tank, or comparing fuel economy across regions. The US and UK (imperial) gallons differ significantly: the imperial gallon is about 4.546 L, roughly 20% larger, so a British "gallon" of milk is not the same pour.

Volume spans a wider range of practical contexts than most units — kitchen measurements like cups to pints sit alongside industrial cubic measures and the milliliters on a medicine bottle. The 14 converters here cover that full spread, moving between US customary, imperial, and metric in both directions. Cooking and baking drive most of the traffic: scaling a recipe up or converting a foreign cookbook means reaching for quarts to cups or fluid ounce conversions repeatedly.

Metric volume is clean powers of ten — a liter is 1,000 milliliters, a milliliter is 1 cubic centimeter. US customary is more layered: 2 tablespoons to a fluid ounce, 8 fluid ounces to a cup, 2 cups to a pint, 2 pints to a quart, 4 quarts to a gallon. That chain is where errors creep in, especially mid-recipe. Pick a pair from the popular converters below, or scroll for every tool in the category.
