Frequency Converters

One hertz is one cycle per second — so frequency and time period are exact reciprocals: double the frequency and the period halves. The metric prefixes stack in clean powers of ten: one kilohertz is 1,000 Hz and one megahertz is 1,000,000 Hz, which is why shifting between them is just a matter of moving the decimal point. Audio sits in the kilohertz range, radio and Wi-Fi in megahertz to gigahertz, and modern CPUs run well into the gigahertz band.

Mechanical frequency is often quoted in RPM rather than hertz. To convert RPM to hertz, divide by 60 — a motor spinning at 3,000 RPM runs at exactly 50 Hz. The 8 converters here handle that mechanical-to-electrical crossover as well as the full metric ladder from hertz up through kilohertz, megahertz, gigahertz, and terahertz. Each tool runs the exact factor in both directions, so the reverse conversion is one tap away.

At the high end, gigahertz-to-hertz and hertz-to-gigahertz come up whenever you're reading processor specs or RF allocations that mix units. Start with the popular pairs below if you already know what you need, or scroll down for the complete list.
